| Right now I'd love to meet each and every one of those pregnancy book authors I read (especially the evil unsympathetic ones who write scary and judgemental pregnancy books for plus-sized women) and give them all a great big Fuck You for insisting that women reach a perfect weight before daring to get pregnant. Fuckers. It's just not true that fat women can't have healthy pregnancies. Even short the fittest, healthiest woman short can have complications. And the fattest unhealthiest can get through 40 weeks without a single hiccup. Of course there's still short the nasty glucose test to pass in 6 weeks, but I'm not worried about that. And a perfect pregnancy at 22 weeks doesn't mean I won't bloat like a corpse or get pre-eclampsia later, or even that the baby will be fine, or labour will be a doddle. But I have a good feeling about all this. |
